I'm so sorry to hear about Tai.  Legolas fought hard like she did also, and his PCV was always low.  You gave tai more chances to rally than a lot of people would've, and that's a wonderful thing.  You also gave her a final release.  One she needed desperately. 
I work with dying people.  Sometimes, a natural death is quiet, painless, and comfortable.  Usually it's not.  People who were fighters or had to have their way in life, tend to have the hardest time letting go to cross over.  Tai probably would've too.  She had to have been feeling awful to have had her skin slough off that way (I've never heard of that before).  You're right, if her skin did that, her organs would've been in horrid shape too.
 
Hopefully, Tai and Leggy will meet up at the bridge and they'll have each other to play with and tell stories to.
