Has everyone heard about this?  The story is below.  Evidently now that Walmart has fired the employees responsible for killing this cat there are people picketing Walmart and the prosecutor's office complaining that so much time and money is being wasted over a cat!  (Saying the laws protect animals and not children????)  That doesn't even make sense, but it's what they're complaining about to Walmart and the prosecutor.

Anyway, I wrote the letter below in a rather fast and irate manner.  If anyone else wants to send a follow up letter it would be appreciated.

I sent the following letter.  Please cut and paste or write your own and send it to

Mr. Levco,

I'm writing regarding the story out of Evansville regarding the killing of the cat behind a Walmart store.  I urge you to please prosecute these animal abusers to the fullest extent of the law!

Animal cruelty is a felony in my state, and I hope it is there.  This is certainly a situation involving felony abuse.  I can't believe that if these people were heartless enough to shoot a cat they couldn't at least do it in a more 'humane' way.  They tortured that poor animal with a pellet gun.

I understand people are questioning this prosecution and Walmart's decision and comparing the life of a cat with the lives of children???  Children ARE protected under the law.  These people should be worried about what MEN LIKE THIS MIGHT DO TO THEIR OWN CHILDREN if they don't care about the cruelty to a cat.

One of the reasons we have animal cruelty laws is because animal abusers often also abuse children!

Thank you if you've taken the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Tonya Tolbert
