Animals feel pain, and distress in a much different way than we do...for him being sick for so long..I am sure he is probally hiding it...he may just feel too bad to be "in it" much more..but also when their bodies are so far gone..often times the soul is in and out....if the pain gets to be to much, the soul "seperates" itself from the body for a tiem...mabey that is why he is so vaccant looking
