Hi Michelle,
I was the one who mentioned the sour cream. Dale needed it and stuff
like cottage cheese for a while when he was a kitten before we got his liver
shunt fixed. I'm glad to hear Simon likes it.
It's hard to see them lose weight "by the hour" like you've seen with Simon
- Legolas did that so I know what you're talking about and I remember how I felt
watching it happen. With Simon, the "normal" stuff doesn't apply as far as
disease progression goes and knowing what's coming. He's hung in there for
a lot longer than I would've ever guessed he could. You know what he
enjoys, you know when he's not enjoying things, you'll know when
he's sick and tired of being sick and tired. Trust that, trust Simon, and
trust yourself to do the right thing by him. Give him as much as he'll
eat of whatever he wants and savor every day you have with him - even the
days when you're stressed out and having a hard time focusing. Chances are
good that you'll find yourself looking back on these times with a bittersweet
nostalgia someday. You've done wonderful things for Simon. Giving
him even one more good day was a blessing for him, and you've given him
several. You and he will stay in my prayers.
Where there's Life, there's Hope
