Dear all,
I also tried to install FEniCS via "sudo port install dolfin" on OSX
10.7.5. I am using a completely clean version of OSX, /opt/ is empty
and I just downloaded macports.
But the build process fails with petsc:

Please see the log file for port petsc for details:
/opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_math_petsc/petsc/main.log
The error is related to the PETSc build. I'd suggest that you register a
bug at https://trac.macports.org against the PETSc package. I've copied
this message the Sean Farley, the port maintainer.

Any help is much appreciated!

Greetings: tried macports installation but ran into error compiling

Here is the screen output and main.log file. Thanks for any help.
Running on MacOSX 10.9.1 with latest MacPorts.

The FEniCS packages are now in the official MacPorts repository,
thanks to the efforts of Sean Farley. For OSX + MacPorts users,
getting FEniCS is now as simple as
sudo port install dolfin
Great - who is maintaining the packages?
Sean Farley (https://bitbucket.org/seanfarley [6]).
Garth
And what is the ambition of
keeping them updated, which version etc.
