Hallo I had a similar problem. I had a previous installation of Fenics 1.4.0. I solved the issue eliminating the related files by hand before beginning the new installation. Mostly located in /usr/local directory. I used also aptitude search/eliminate with keyword dolfin, fenics, ffc, ufl. The message disappeared. I had then to reinstall some libraries, as libboost, required by Fenics. hallo Stefano
