I had a similar problem. I had a previous installation of Fenics 1.4.0. I 
solved the issue eliminating the related files by hand before beginning the new 
installation. Mostly located in /usr/local directory. I used also aptitude 
search/eliminate  with keyword dolfin, fenics, ffc, ufl. The message 
disappeared. I had then to reinstall some libraries, as libboost, required by 
Fenics.

i want to install FEnics 1.5 on ubuntu 14.04.

I have used the following stetment in the terminal: "sudo apt-get install 
fenics".

But i get the following error:

"Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have

 libclutter-1.0-0 : Depends: libcogl-pango15 (>= 1.15.8) but it is not going to 
be installed

                    Depends: libcogl15 (>= 1.15.8) but it is not going to be 
installed."

 

Could you help me to fix this problem?
