You can install latest stable release from Ubuntu repository following
instructions here
http://fenicsproject.org/download/ubuntu_details.html#ubuntu-ppa
if you're sudoer on the machine.

In the opposite case, you may
1. build from source manually
2. build from source using dorsal
   http://bitbucket.org/fenics-project/dorsal
3. use virtual machine approach Jack Hale is suggested
