A couple of thoughts. The separation of the projects is highly desirable. I know plenty of people who just pick and choose what they download and use.
My suggestion would be to create a test script that extracts the demo code and runs them. It should be pretty simple to get a code that extracts from the demos, but then how would you make sure the text is correct?
