I also needed that in order to get the records without publication date (260__c), tried everything but didn't include the 'and', hence i didn't get the proper results. No, I don't see that behaviour. cf. http://juser.fz-juelich.de/search?ln=en&cc=VDB&sc=1&p=and+not+260__c%3A0-%3E9 Acutally, on our box it is ignorant wether you are using an index (or logical field) or a direct marc tag. Note that year in our case is actually a combined index of invenios year, our indices pub and web. year: 260__c pub : 260__c, 773__y # publication year web : 9141_y # scientific report that mentions this doc If your behaviour would be the other way round (ie. year: having a problem) I'd suspect a broken index. If the marc tag however has a problem, I wonder.
