Actually,  I think Wil is a fan of Linux. Vernor Vinge is also a very
outspoken free software advocate who serves on an awards committee for the
FSF. Big draw and a very approachable public speaker.

I think the  cosplay after party idea is too far off-topic (and maybe even
intimidating) to bring attendees together.

I saw a great after-party at LISA a bunch of years ago where old school
video games were rented. Then the party sponsor donated to various floss
non-profits an amount that depended on the night's high score on each
game.  People had fun and a little money went to some our community's hard
working orgs.
