Nickolay, et al,
I have tried substituting kal_diphone_us for cmu_us_bdl_arctic_hts and I
have ended up with the same artifacts.
Have I missed something important?
First of all you miss the description of missing "artifacts". What
exactly artifacts are you talking about? If you describe your problem in
more detail, better solution might come out. Right now it's not clear
what issue with labs do you have.
Well, say for example the generated prompt wav is 5s long, the label
file will only have 4.5s of labels, because the label segments are too
short. More often than not the first half is roughly ok, but somewhere
around the middle the labels start to get out of sync and lag behind the
.wav file, the remainder being filled with one giant 'pau' label at the end.
The same symptoms then happen in the real recorded wav files too, which
obviously results in the segments containing the wrong data and an
unusable voice. Although it seems worth mentioning that because the
recorded data is almost uniformly longer than the prompt data, I can't
see a way that the recorded data somehow got muddled up and caused this
shortening of labels.
I don't think there's a common diphone where the labels start to get out
of sync.
For want of a more appropriate method, I've uploaded an example of the
generated prompt label & wav files as follows:

http://kyrian.ore.org/speech/orenet_0004.wav
If you could take a quick look I'd be very grateful.
Thanks.
K.
