Yep, I got involved in mpegts when I implemeneted teletext pts generation
and while at it I also fixed some existing bugs. That said, I have less
knowledge about mpegts compared to other areas of the codebase I
maintain, so in practice this really is a shared maintainership among me
and Michael.
For the current case, I personally don't find this patch intrusive enough
to care, that is why I also don't quite understand the heated argument
about it. IMHO this whole thread already took more time from capable
developers than maitaining that additional 3 lines of code in the next
few years.
