The only thing I can think of is that somehow I was fooled into believing playback was coming from file and it was really coming off the web site. I tried a large number of combinations trying to find the source of the problems.
The file was downloaded using Orbit Downloader V4.0.0.3 on a W2K system. I was unable to find anything that I could make work for rtmp on the Linux system I normally use. Are you aware of any program that will capture a rtmp stream that runs on linux? I have tried rtmpdump but was unable to get the parameters correct for the web site I was accessing. If I get the same results from a different downloader, then I can rule out Orbit as the source of trouble. Sorry for the wild goose chase and thanks for the help.
