Title: Software license violations in Gygan Body: Hello, It appears as though the software you are offering at http://www.gygan.com/, "Gygan", is installed with and uses great amounts of code from other 3rd-party projects which make their source available under licenses like the GPL (General Public License) and LGPL (Lesser General Public License). However, you are in certain violation of those licenses by not complying with their terms. You can find the specific terms of each software project on their websites, but of the dozens of DLL files you include, a great many appear to be under at least an LGPL license, which requires (in English, again, see license terms for exact requirements) attribution, inclusion of the source code for those parts of your package (or clear offer to provide such), and inclusion of the license terms. Other DLLs appear to be compiled from GPL source, which also would require that since you are using those parts to create a new whole -- the Gygan software -- Gygan must also license under the GPL (or cease use of GPL code). In the hope that this is a mistake, this email is being sent. This issue is being tracked and monitored at https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/issue2458 as the FFmpeg project is one of the main ones whom you have slighted, and you are very welcome to create an account there and discuss solutions for this conflict. FFmpeg also lists continuing violators in the Hall of Shame at http://www.ffmpeg.org/shame.html , and you should be aware that this is a copyright violation the same as would be if it was a violation of any traditional EULA -- the copyright holders could pursue the matter legally, if they chose. Here's hoping for a quick resolution that benefits all parties, Devin Cofer ________________________________________________ FFmpeg issue tracker <[email protected]> <https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/issue2458> ________________________________________________
