Yes, what I meant was the documentation update on usage of pkg-config has
been merged as commit 40948819fcfe5bba39531df358dc50d52cee10d4.
My point is that pkg-config usage has been clarified, so therefore this
ticket does not deserve an "important" priority. This simply distracts
from other arguably more pressing issues on the bug tracker. By no means
am I saying to close this ticket, but to degrade it to "normal" or ideally
"minor" (in my view).
