I can only reiterate the regrets you've already received and assure you it was
ever thus and it's not your fault.
For the benefit of any new people or anyone who reads this thread in future,
ffmpeg is for every practical purpose a Linux-community project. The Linux
community is notorious for its incredible intolerance and inexcusable rudeness.
It is common, even normal, on this mailing list. I have been hugely dismayed by
this situation for many years but I'm not convinced there's much that can be
done about it; it happens with the tacit approval, even the encouragement, of
the people who run the project and there is no mechanism to correct it. Look at
Linus Torvalds' own reputation; that's the role model. They think that's good.
They actually believe it's appropriate professional behaviour; that's the kind
of people you're dealing with.
As the guy in the video very accurately says, it drives away talented people,
hinders adoption, and in general holds back capable and useful software like
ffmpeg. Despite the clear capability of the people who write the code, there
have been and remain huge gaps in what it can do because they will not accept
outside advice and comments or suggestions are seen as attacks. The level of
ego and narcissism on display is mind-boggling.
Some of it is possibly due to a language barrier and cultural differences but
it's been a hell of a long time with threads like this popping up every so
often in an attempt to correct things. They aren't interested. They like it
this way. Sadly, there's not much you can do but put up with it.

People are stupid. Each person is stupid in their own way. I'm somewhat
stupid about Linux and I'm very stupid about how to make money in the stock
market. Other people might be smart about the stock market and Linux - and be
stupid about music and Windows, two subjects that I know a lot about.
If people get cursed for their stupidity, that usually doesn't encourage them
to educate themselves about the matter they're stupid about. Toxic replies can
make people abandon the Linux community completely. That's what I did the last
time I was subjected to similar behaviour.
The world needs more kindness and love, not toxicity. It gets enough toxicity
from us when we're short of sleep, in a bad mood, under stress, etc. Please be
kinder to each other.

I'm subscribed to mailing lists that you regularly post to (ffmpeg-user &
systemd-devel).
The manner (negative and condescending) in which you communicate isn't helpful
to those you reply to and it isn't helpful to those who read your emails.
Please reconsider how you interact with the rest of the communities you are a
part of.
