Fibrefriends,
As some of you are aware it's summertime here and the fibrecrafts and any
other leisure activities go into recess which the masses exit to the beaches.

It's then my time of the year to have more time for fibrecrafts and I
usually do a big dye-up or 2 :-) this year is no different......and the
fleeces mostly white that have sat on the shelves at Stash Enhancement
Transfer Station have been candidates for wonderful combinations.

I put about 2" of water & additives in the pot - add some dry fleece -
decide on that colour layer and pour it over the top randomly - then add
another bunch of dry fleece and find another colour that should co-ordinate
- then I use the plastic jug bottom to push the fleece down gently - bring
it to the simmer then turn off - put it all in a bucket and leave outside
overnite [that's because my flatmate isn't keen on smelly stuff near his
bathroom <g>] - the next day rinse and then dry using my new fangled dryer
that is at the right height [the car! bonnet & boot]

The Guild recently had alot of curtain leftovers donated so I have made
some zany but simple bags with a tie cord to put the now dry fleece in,
with sample of orginal fleece and a small handspun sample for ideas.

I'm having a lovely time playing around with what are basically donated
fleeces to start with. One lot tho' was prickly, I spent at least an hour
sorting them out!

The other dyeing I'm doing is from hanks - mostly from yarns that we can no
longer buy as the respective businesses have gone......mohair and wools
using a random dip dye system and afterwards rewinding them. They do look
smashing.
