Thanks to all who responded to my question about cleaning silk flowers. I
went with the easiest and cheapest - I swished them in warm water and hung
them upside-down from my wool drying rack. Unfortunately, after making a
very attractive new arrangement for my big lead-crystal vase, I had to pack
them all away after one of the cats knocked the vase to the floor (it
didn't break). Guess they are still too young and curious (the cats) for
me to have flower arrangements out - even silk ones. I had to remove all
the houseplants when they were kittens (they're about one and a half now -
siblings), as they wouldn't leave them (the plants) alone. The last plants
were my hanging ones which I felt were safe enough - wrong! The cats would
get on the furniture and try to get into the pots from there - ripped all
the hanging plants out of the ceiling. My house is now plantless - and
now: flowerless, too. At least the cats don't bother my spinning or
knitting when it's in my hands. I have to be careful where I leave fiber,
yarn or projects, though. They think anything left alone is *theirs*.
