I am experiencing difficulties in this area with my Coopworth wether about
eight months old who has copper poisoning from eating goat feed. I wasted a
lot of time calling vets who don't deal with this problem. The people at the
University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center in Kennett Square,
Pennsylvania, know what they are doing. They told my vet how to treat my
sheep and got the necessary medicine and mineral supplements out to us.
Phone number is 610-444-5800. Pharmacy extension is 2196. They told me most
people around here don't even bother to treat their animals for chronic
copper toxicity, as they usually don't survive. "Thunder" is a pet who goes
in and out of our house with the dogs and letting him go was out of the
question!
I wish you luck. A good website Julie Gerow just told me about is
www.sheepandgoats.com. Plug in copper toxicity and you will have some very
informative reading!
Good luck!
