Hi,

I've been chatting with a Shetland breeder who has told me the following:
'the outer coat is only there until the first shearing.' This led me to
believe that no outer coat existed, once the sheep had been sheared. Which,
of course, confused me no end, as I've always been told that the outer coat
is what protects the sheep's soft inner coat, enabling it to live on the
cold, chilly, cold, freezing, cold Shetland Islands.

The upshot of is that now I'm even more confused, as now I'm told that the
outer coat grows back, after it's sheared. !pleh
