I figured out how to knit from a book, and started out with the right-hand
yarn-holding method. When my grandmother saw me doing that (She was
Norwegian, so of course used the Continental method and was quite an
accomplished knitter) she thought the way I was doing it wasted a huge
amount of effort, and quickly taught me the Continental method too. I never
went back.
