Here's part of what my acquaintance wrote, who is involved for the US,
in the UK/Ireland foot and mouth outbreak. I am sending this information
to all fiber lists I subscribe to.
"I am currently drafting biosecurity measures that will be put up on the
web. I would suggest ardently but gently that NO ONE CONSIDER ORDERING
ANY FLEECES FROM UK, IRELAND OR CONTINENTAL EUROPE. It could bring this
horror here."
In this morning's news, I read that Ireland has cancelled Dublin's St.
Patrick's Day parade. In New Zealand, a woman who returned home from
Britain without telling customs staff she had visited a Scottish farm
was facing possible criminal. Over 30 locations in Britain, Ireland and
Scotland have had confirmed cases of the disease.
