Hello,

I have gotten some of the wonderful Ashland Bay merino,
and merino blends. The colors are very pretty, you can get the
superwash fiber, and the staple length is nice, about 3-4 inches?, I
did not measure it but I have some that fiber that is destined to be
a pair of roving spun socks. It is really nice stuff.
Which reminds me something I've been meaning to ask the list.
Does anybody knows of hand if I can dye the white silk blend roving?
I have this project I've been planning. I would like to make a fine
lacy sweater/shirt thingy One ply from my black french angora. One
ply merino/silk. But I have not found the color I want a very light
silver and "electric baby blue". So I figured I could try to space
dye some merino/silk roving in the colors I want. Any suggestions,
warnings, words of advice, etc...
Lastly, I have noticed that after I spin my bunny's fluff
and ply it and tug a bit on the fibers that poke out I can pull some
out. I have done this test because the only angora sweaters I have
are commercially bought and they shed like crazy. So since I am
going to spend quite a bit of time saving the fiber than spinning and
knitting the sweater thing, which will be quite open, I have no wish
to have it shedding all over the place. That said should I spin the
angora and the merino and give it a higher amount of twist and ply it
to equilibrium to prevent shedding?
Thanks and Happy weekend!
