I have some candle wax lying around (for lubing up the Bond ISM), I'll hunt
it up and see if it doesn't help.

I washed this Corriedale when I was experimenting with washing methods
(this is my first raw fleece). The water in my heater comes out at about
170 F, give or take 5 degrees. I tried Dawn (left bubbles in the fleece
that caused it to float above the water after the first soak), Simple Green
(stank and made me dry heave), and Orvus. Orvus seemed to work best - so
now I go with two 30 minute soaks in Orvus (generous amounts - I probably
put in ~1/2 c per soak, per 1? 1 1/2? lbs of wool), then three hot rinses.
I'm guessing that this now-sticky batch is from one of the "other" washing
methods.

Thanks for the pointer - a nice thorough description, too!

I wonder how much damage it can do, tho, since you use only a T of it per
gallon of water, and it only soaks for 15-20 minutes before rinsing. I'll
have to try a bit of it, just to prove it to myself. :) I bought the
alcohol and soap yesternight, and I'll give it a go (I think this blizzard
may gift me with a long weekend).

Thanks for your reply, Holly and Dee Dee.
