I've been invited to a vegetable-peeling next Tuesday. (For the corned-beef
dinner on Wednesday.) This would be a good chance to collect a bunch of
onion skins. I've tried them plain, with vinegar (about the same as plain),
with iron, pickling alum, baking soda, and various combinations.
Is there a mordant that will give me a startling result?
