Here's a fiber question for all you Fibernetters -- if somebody here
doesn't know the answer, I'm not sure one exists!
Last August my next door neighbors moved from Ohio to northern Alabama.
They showed up in October for a visit, and brought me two grocery bags
stuffed full of cotton in the boll -- apparently these were leavings in
a neighboring field after the mechanized pickers had been through. Must
be 20-30 lbs of the stuff!
Well, I've spent a few evenings picking seeds out, and spun up a couple
of samples, and it is soft and easy to spin. I'd never worked with
cotton, and was really pleased with the yarn. BUT -- I'll not hand pick
that much cotton in my lifetime. SO - does anyone know anybody who can
gin a small quantity? Or are there other in-between measures that are
faster than hand picking?
