"Duh" is not a nice way to begin a post. I was told by the people I bought
the lamb from to treat him exactly as I treat my goats. Same feed, same
everything, period. As they are experienced, well respected sheep breeders I
trusted them. I asked the Agway people what to do and was told I could feed
him goat feed. And yes, I did refer to books, especially, "Raising Sheep the
Modern Way," which does not mention anything about copper toxicity. My
friends from the Garden State Sheep Breeders knew I had a new lamb, first
sheep for me, and never mentioned anything about being careful of to
distinguish between feeds. As a bottle baby, it was easy to include him in
the family along with the other pets. I agree that pasture animals should be
in the pasture and will never buy another bottle baby. I think it is morally
wrong to take an animal away from it's mother and bottle feed it just to make
it a pet, and regret that I ever bought Thunder. He doesn't know he is a
sheep and does not relate to the other sheep
I now have. Coopworths are supposed to produce triplets, and this lamb sold
because he is a triplet and the owners didn't want to tax the mother.
We have suffered enough over this and I take responsibility for my mistakes,
but your post is, quite frankly, insensitive.
