Hi Niki, I am really not answering your question, but have one of my own.
I tried my first batch of polkberry dye and was kind of disappointed.....maybe I just did not have enough berries. The first batch, I threw stems and all in with vinager, and it came out kind of a light brick red. I had started it in an iron pot, with wool which had not been mordanted. So the next batch, I tried to follow the recipes better....stainless steel pots start to finish, wool previously mordanted with alum, and after simmering for a day and a half, letting it steep for another day and a half, the tips were pumpkin, and the base of the fiber was yellowish orange, like the inside of the raw pumpkin. Any suggestions for me??? Anyone else out there getting good color from polkberries? Dana >----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Niki B.
