I just got some phenomenal wool to card for a friend. It is Spaelsau and was sent to her from Norway(?). I just love it! Can anyone tell me something about these sheep? Besides the little bit printed in the Colored Wool Congress book, and what is on the net, I'm not finding much. Is it true that they just throw the wool out?? Is there any way to get some of these sheep in this country?
She got several fleeces and they vary in color from pure white, to white undercoat with a black outer coat, gray undercoat with a white outercoat, to pure gray and nearly pure black. All the fleeces are wondrously soft. She is letting me keep one, and I am having trouble deciding which one!
