I just got 4 ounces of beautiful dark brown yak down. I plan to spin it very fine, being mindful that it has enough twist to hold together since it isn't very long.
I plan to crochet a beret in single crochet, and make a scarf if there is enough (I have no sense of how much fiber makes what!). I know some people will say that it will be awfully warm unblended - but I'm the world's coldest person so that's not a problem. I'm wondering about lack of elasticity - will my hat be a saggy, droopy mess? If so, would a few rounds of another yarn provide support so the hat doesn't droop? I'm picturing a few thin lines of some sort of shiny bright gold, though shiny yarn may tend not to be elastic either. ===== Merry Luskin, Oakland CA Reference librarian and handspinner Indexer, Librarians' Index to the Internet http://lii.org mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
