They've used horse hair for many things. I have a friend who braids
horsehair into bracelets and other small pieces of jewelry, some attached
to silver and other beads to enhance it. It lasts a long time. They have
used horse hair for rug pads, for stuffing of furniture and even to help
stiffen under skirts for those beautiful dresses in the old South before
the Civil War.

There are people who own Bashkir horses, often called Curlies, that spin
the hair, but I'm not sure if they spin the mane and tail or the hair of
the body of the horses. I have a question out to one of the Curlies'
sites. I'm kind of interested in these myself as they are very gentle
horses and I'm a bit afraid of regular ones.
