You should tell him that if he insists on laceweight yarn for socks, you are
going to charge four times the original estimate.  I wouldn't knit fewer
than ten stitches per inch for socks in such yarn, and might go to twelve --
unless they are to be hung as a wall ornament, rather than worn.
