Ditto: http://home.earthlink.net/~joybeeson/ -- keep clicking links until you get to the table of contents of Rough Sewing, then look for "mending". I've got socks to darn, and I have checked out a talking book to listen to, but I haven't been darning them. I did get one pitiful picture, which is in the HTML section of Rough Sewing. ><<do you ever fix them with other yarns?>> I rarely use the original yarns, since knitting yarns aren't good to sew with, and the original yarn is apt to be a bit too thick for a worn sock. I do use original yarn when I particularly want to match the color. "Persian" embroidery wool is good for darning worsted-weight. For sock weight, I use two strands of DMC "Medici", a very fine crewel yarn. Multiple strands make a flatter darn than a single strand of a heavier yarn, so I'm not buying any more Persian -- but I already have pounds of it I may someday knit socks with. Persian socks last better than 3/12 worsted socks, but it's a pain to get Persian out of the package. >Have fun a Rhinebeck--wish I could go :) Ditto. -- Joy Beeson [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://home.earthlink.net/~joybeeson/ http://home.earthlink.net/~beeson_n3f/ west of Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A. where it's sunny and the leaves are falling.
