Hi, Regarding wshing Cotswold or any fleece with greasy tips. Hot water and detergent is the key. Water temp. 150 degrees or better. A detergent with a higher ph will help dissolve the greasy tips. I find that two things will happen with the tips when processing; 1, they will break off. 2. they will open and you will nver notice the grease again. Test the tips when the fleece is dry. If they pull off, then in processing they will break. If they open up, then they will open on the card. Flick carding will help, but is time consuming. Feeding through small amounts in a drum carder, will usually open the tips. It may take two or three passes to get the tips well opened.
