Everyone working on last minute gift projects? I made mini Christmas stockings for 6 volunteers of a program I work in. They were fun and pretty fast to make, and can be worn as pins or used as package or tree ornaments. I ran out of red and green handspun and didn't feel like dyeing more, so I got out a stash of beautiful yarns someone else spun--incredibly even and fine two-ply silks and silk blends. I knit some of them on size 0 needles, but they really should have been a little finer still. I wish I could credit the spinner, but I don't remember her name. She did these for a scarf exchange years and years ago.
And I finally finished my first matched set of warm woolies to go with my school-bus yellow winter coat (I know, I should have sent it back, but I needed the coat now!). I overdyed a bunch of darkish gray yarn in 12 rainbow colors. Most of it went to a large striped shawl, but the leftovers have become a variety of things. I wanted to have fun with garter stitch mitered squares, so made a scarf of them, then made some into a cuff for a ribbed hat. I finally figured out how to make mittens with a mitered square on the back of the hand, and I finished those yesterday. Now I think I will be using the last of the yarn to make a super-warm dicky for doing chores and for walking to my neighbor's each week. The weather here has been a little colder than normal for this early in the winter, so I'm figuring really frigid temps--maybe even some to impress Ron <g>--might be coming when we get into the real winter weater :) Holly Hoping everyone has a warm and safe holiday season, complete with those whom you love most To stop mail temporarily mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: set nomail To restore send: set mail
