Carol, I can sympathize withh the difficult meeting times, and also with the intimidation thing, cuz I remember it from earlier spinning days and still experience it in other areas of life. But as a spinner of 17 years, one of my biggest reasons for attending guild events or gatherings is for the cameraderie. And that, to me, means people of so many different experiences, life paths, ages, skill levels, etc. gathering to support each other. I _love_ teaching people to spin, or just giving a little quiet encouragement to a newer spinner. And in turn (okay, an unplanned, but apt pun), those who've been spinning much longer than I have often given me the same. Spinning is nearly a meditational thing to me, whether done alone or with a roomful of people, and I think it's because it gives me a connectedness throughout years (/centuries/millennia), miles, ages. Perhaps this is just my own, unique, airyfairy view; certainly each of us has our own reasons or motivations for spinning; but I would encourage you to fight that little intimidation thing, and when schedule allows, try some more guild stuff. I don't believe that my state guild is alone in its overall welcoming, enveloping attitude (terrific, yes! but hopefully not alone). Good luck (you surely will not need it).
