I have not heard of a US certified program - but I am not the most 
knowledgeable in this area. The judges we hire for the NH Sheep and 
Wool Festival are simply long time sheep people with extensive 
experience and knowledge. Our judge the last couple of years is a 30 
year shearer and a wool sheep producer. I know that some breeds have 
individual programs. NASSA has recently put out a judging packet which 
you request at www.shetland-sheep.com. I believe that Heather Ludlum is 
in charge of that information - she might also have the answer to your 
broader question about national cerfification.
