Yesterday when I did grocery shopping I asked at our local Shaw's bakery for a large plastic bucket. I'd gotten one there once before. Sure enough they gave me a clean 5 gallon bucket that some of their mixes came in. Just thought this would be a good idea to pass around - don't know if other grocery stores would be as cooperative, but it's worth an ask.

I used to get them at a small-town bakery in Minnesota. Mostly ever a charge, but some times a waiting list. They are wonderful for making/storing kraut or pickles too. They are food grade plastic, and have good lids as well.
