If you can get an 'in' with someone who works at a deli type grocery or
restaurant, pickles come in 5 gallon white plastic buckets with a sealable lid and metal handle ... and they smell marvelously like dill pickles for the longest time....
I re-cycle these buckets for all sorts of things besides dyeing, too. Remembering that they're food-grade, they can store all kinds of things.
The one caveat I have, tho, is that although they seem to look alike, they're not always all the same size. But usually if you'll check underneath the bucket, it'll tell the size somewhere.
I've found some to be more than 5 gallons; some are only 4 gallons. Mostly it doesn't matter too much, but could be a factor if you're concerned about measurements (why doesn't this fleece fit in this bucket <g>?, the last one did, etc)
