Some time ago I asked about hydrating an old skein of yarn given to me - it was
spun at least 40 years ago by my childhood mentor - and felt very dry after
careful washing. CJ suggested trying essential oils. When I did the shopping
I fond a fabric softener "Downy Simple Pleasures" with essential oils. I
choose Vanilla & Lavender. I rinsed the yarn in the diluted softener and knit
it into a lace scarf. Then I washed and rinsed again in the softener. The
scarf is soft and not dry feeling at all. Thanks CJ.
