Interesting. I usually ply with my lendrum because I dont like cranking up the tension on my double drive. I use the regular flyer for plying because I spin relatively fine yarn and there is just too much pedaling with the jumbo.
Are you sure you have the flyer properly in place? Perhaps you could clean and lubricate the flyer bearings. sometimes I take off the treadle attachment to the wheel and oil that and the wheel bearing. Everything should be smooth and quiet.
