Those lovely critters love to roll!   Ideally, the coat should be blown
free of chaff and debris before shearing.   It's not an ideal world!
If it were still in lock formation, you could separate locks (I like to
pull apart at the tips) and use a flicker to brush the tips and skin ends
open, which removes a lot of debris.

If it's already picked, you can comb it  or just spin as is.  As a piece of
chaff enters the drafting zone, and the fibers are taut, strum the fibers
with the little finger of the forward hand and the chaff should go sailing
off into your lap, on the floor, etc.   It really helps to keep a white
cloth in your lap as a background to see debris making it's way into the
zone.
