I think you can only make a real twill if you have 3 heddles. With 2 heddle, plus some pick up sticks you can make some neat patterns, like windowpanes, which can act like a sort of twill. There's a good book about patterns for the rigid heddles loom. I think it was Betty (Betsy?) Davenport. Also there was a book by Xenakis about multi harness patterns for the rigid heddle.
