I keep my singles warp and weft yarns as skeins until I'm ready to start warping. Then I size my warp skeins, and hang them to dry. Next I wind them into center-pull balls, and wind my warp from up to 8 of those at a time.

My weft needs no treatment before winding into balls, and then onto weaving bobbins. But my weaving singles are relatively low twist (15 degrees, sometimes 10) and so no washing is needed to make them easy to handle.
