Well, dish towels are long done and delivered, planning a cottolin
project for the Schacht, doing a lot of knitting and spinning, dyeing
top, trying to get things more or less organized for DS arriving in
about a week, going through all the stuff I had to move out of the
studio and finding new places for it to live, and stealing a few minutes
to think about the First Project on the AVL.
I was a little put off when I realized if I did some sort of
dish-towelish thing for the first project, I would need ***48***
packages of yarn to sectionally warp! But I guess I can do that with a
bunch of small balls of warp yarn as well as cones (I don't quite have
48 cones of cotton, if I used every one I have :)
The AVL is 16 harness. I was thinking about threading either a straight
draw or point twill--recommendations?
Still have to play with it a bit to get the dobby adjusted for lifting
the back 8 harnesses. I haven't looked at it enough to know just how it
works yet. And the heddles (I HATE texsolv heddles!) are a mess, it
will take some hours to get them all in order. But, small prices to pay
in exchange for this amazing machine!
And I have to open up the apron and give it a good shake--OUTSIDE--it's
incredibly dusty. Fortunately, it's sunny today and going to be in the 40s.
