I was writing about worming sheep, not dogs. I have never, ever read
anything about ivermectin causing neurological damage to sheep. If the
writer can cite a source, I would be interested in reading it.

Chocolate is toxic to dogs, but that is neither here nor there.

When I first got into raising sheep, there was still talk about using lead
arsenate and some thought
nicotine was a more natural product and advocated feeding a cigarette to a
sheep or goat to worm it.
It was also common to use phenothiazine to worm sheep.

There are folks today who believe feeding sheep some Shaklee's Basic H is a
good "natural remedy" to prevent parasites, but there are no studies or drug
safety info and no info on how long before slaughter the product should be
avoided or anything at all to show that it is safe to eat sheep treated this
way.

Ivermectin has been very thoroughly studied, however.
