I used to subscribe to Piecework, as well, and was delighted with the 
(relatively) well-researched, almost scholarly articles.  That was the 
first mag to go, as it was a luxury item for me, and it soon drifted 
into 'make this cutesy little project in 30 minutes' <gagging>  I did do 
a lovely quilted tea cozy inspired by one in their first year or two.  I 
wanted information with meat in it.  If projects must be included, then 
let them have some meat too!  I haven't seen a PW in a long time, but 
certainly haven't heard they've gone back to their original standards.
