I quite subscribing to Handwoven 2 years ago. Last night, looking for inspiration for my proposed towel project on the AVL, I started with the most recent year, 2004, and started going through the back issues. Result: I'm giving away 2000-2004 because there's only a couple projects I have any interest in (and only ONE project is worth thinking about photocopying before I give away the stack). Many whole issues really have no weaving at all except plain weave to then fold, spindle, and mutilate. Much of the work is just plain UGLY, much of it is poorly designed, and much of it totally unfunctional. Coincidently, Marilyn took over editing for the last issue of 1999.

I gave her 5 years to prove she could do better at Handwoven than she did at Weavers. Actually, though I never much liked Weavers, I think she did a better job over there. A lot of money wasted.
