I can second that! Coopworth has the best of Romney and Border
Leicester to offer. I think the 3 breeds, Coopworth, Border
Leicester and Romney, are some of the best to begin with. Of
course, our sheep are Coopworth and Border Leicester, so I am not
very objective about it! But when I started spinning in the 80s, I
was spinning Border Leicester and Cheviot that I got from a lovely
farm in Wisconsin. Last fall I bought two crossbred ewes that are
Coopworth, but have some Cheviot in them as well. I can't wait for
shearing :*)
