Thanks to all of you who replied to my original post. I really enjoyed
reading the replies. I finally got in touch with the person who told me
about this. The only thing I got right about the description is that it
is Native American (from B.C. and Alaska). It is a form of Chilkat
weaving. My friend still says there is some braiding technique involved,
but I looked it up on the artist's (Cheryl Samuel) website and all I
could find that is similar is that 2 or 3 threads are woven together.
